End of Term One

We have come to the end of term one - here are some photos of what we've been up to this term:

Swimming - we were lucky enough to have six swimming lessons at the Papatoetoe Pools. We enjoyed learning how to float, being brave enough to put our head under the water to collect toys from the bottom, and do proper swimming strokes like freestyle.

Mufti Day

Yesterday, we had our Duffy Books assembly. We heard from two role models - Taylah Hodson-Tomokino and Matt Johnson. Taylah is a former BMX and rugby sevens champion who is now juggling studying law with working at Sky Sport. Matt has played rugby league for the Melbourne Storm and is currently contracted to the Auckland Blues. They were very inspiring and talked about how reading has helped them throughout their lives. After the assembly we were given our two books each - and we were very excited!

Buddy Class

Our buddy class this year is Room 8! On Wednesday afternoon, we paired up with our buddies and helped them across the obstacle course on the adventure playground, using lots of positive encouragement. 

Race Relations Day

We dressed up in our cultural clothing for Race Relations Day! Don't we look fantastic?

Gingerbread men

Today we made our own gingerbread men as our big book this week has been all about The Gingerbread Man!

First, we cut out the cookie shape.
Then, we cooked them in the oven.
Next, we decorated our cookie.
Last, we ate the gingerbread man!

Upcoming Events

Hi Mums and Dads,

Room 14 has 2 exciting events coming up soon.

Monday 5th December at 2.10pm in the hall, Room 14 and 29 are leading the whole school assembly. We are doing a dance and a song.  You are welcome to come and watch the show from 2.10pm.

Also, Friday 9th December  is our school Christmas Show Day.
The Year 0/1 show is on from 9.30am - 10am, you are able to take your children after the show if you want.  Just let me know first.

For both shows, the children are able to wear mufti clothes to school.  Also for the Christmas show, if they could also have a pair of reindeer antlers.

Crazy Hair Day - FRIDAY

Hi Mums and Dads,

On Friday, Mishika danced in the Diwali Dance Off in the school hall.

Science today

Today for science we looked at apples.  First, we tried to worked out what was in the bag by feeling around.   Only two kids worked out it was an apple, but everyone's guesses were of something that is round.

Then we guessed how many seeds might be inside our apples.

Finally, we got to eat them!
